Forty-nine songs from eligible movies are contending for three to five Oscar nominations in the Original Song category, it was announced in Beverly Hills.

Eleven of the possible nominees come from the “High School Musical 3: Senior Year” soundtrack, including “A Night to Remember,” “Can I Have This Dance,” “Walk Away,” “Now or Never,” “Scream,” “Right Here Right Now,” “High School Musical,” “The Boys Are Back,” “Just Getting Started,” “Just Wanna Be with You” and “I Want It All.”

Disney’s “High School Musical” leaps onto the big screen in “High School Musical 3: Senior Year”, in which America’s favorite high school students (Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens, Ashley Tisdale, Lucas Grabeel, Corbin Bleu and Monique Coleman) hit senior year. Amidst a basketball championship, prom and a big spring musical featuring all the Wildcats. Troy and Gabriella vow to make every moment last as their lifelong college dreams put the future of their relationship in question. A crew of sophomore Wildcats (Matt Prokop, produced by Bill Borden and Barry Rosenbush, directed by Kenny Ortega and written by Peter Barsocchini.

Vanessa Hudgens denied rumours there is friction between her and her ‘High School Musical’ co-star Ashley Tisdale, insisting the pair are good friends.

She added: “We are just really close and get along so well. The two of us together are just hysterical – we come up with the most random, silly things.

“We don’t fight and it’s annoying because people are always comparing us. They need to understand that we are just best friends.”
